Varnish is a website accelerator platform, which caches information for the sake of quicker access. It is sometimes called an HTTP reverse proxy too and it interacts between a web server and a web browser. When a site visitor loads a certain web page, its content is requested by the web browser, and then the server processes this browser request and returns the needed info. If Varnish is activated for a certain website, it will cache its pages at the first request and if the visitor visits a cached page once more, the content will be delivered by the caching platform instead of the server. The increased loading speed is a result of the substantially faster response speed that Varnish offers as compared with any server software. Of course, this does not mean that the users will keep seeing the very same content over and over again, as any modification on any of the pages is reflected in the content that Varnish saves in its system memory.
Varnish in Shared Website Hosting
You can unlock Varnish’s full potential and increase your sites’ load speed irrespective of the shared website hosting package that you’ve selected and you can add and configure the platform with a couple of clicks from the easy-to-use graphical interface offered by our advanced Hepsia Control Panel. During the process, you will be able to choose two different things – how many Internet sites will use Varnish, in other words – the number of instances, and how much information will be cached, in other words – the amount of memory. The latter comes in increments of 32 MB and is not tied to the number of instances, so you can order more instances with less memory and vice versa. If you’ve got plenty of content on a given website and you receive a lot of site visitors, more memory will give you a better result. You may also consider using a dedicated IP for the websites that will use Varnish. Hepsia will provide you with easy 1-click controls for discontinuing or restarting any instance, for deleting the cache associated with any website and for checking in-depth system logs.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish is a feature, which comes as standard with all semi-dedicated hosting plans offered by us and you can use it for load balancing purposes. It is available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The content caching platform comes with 64 MB of system memory for cached content storing purposes and you can use it with any Internet site that you host in the semi-dedicated account. In case you’re in need of more, you can increase the memory allocation. The memory itself is offered in increments of 32 MB in the Control Panel’s Upgrades section. The same section will allow you to enable more instances too, if you want to use the Varnish platform with more sites. The two upgrades can be added separately – you can cache the content of a single resource-hungry site or use a number of websites with the default memory allocation. You can get the most out of the Varnish platform in case you use a dedicated IP and you can get one with your semi-dedicated server package as well. Hepsia will grant you complete control over the platform and, with no more than a click, you will be able to clear the cached data, to check a system log or to restart an instance.
Varnish in VPS Servers
You can take advantage of Varnish with all our VPS server plans at no additional charge, since the content caching platform is pre-installed and is available by default. The sole precondition is that the Virtual Private Server must be ordered with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you will be able to set up Varnish for any of your sites with only a few mouse clicks. Each Virtual Private Server package features a different amount of memory for caching purposes, but you’ll have at least several hundred megabytes, which is sufficient even for multiple resource-absorbing websites. Shortly after you enable Varnish, it will begin caching the content that your website visitors open, so you’ll notice the tremendously better page loading speeds and the reduced load on the virtual server very soon. The caching platform will permit you to use a less expensive virtual server, as you will not need that many resources to warrant the proper operation of your websites even if you have resource-requiring sites with plenty of visitors. Optimal results are accomplished if the websites that use the Varnish caching platform use also a dedicated IP address.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
All dedicated web hosting plans that are ordered with the in-house developed Hepsia website hosting Control Panel come with Varnish, which is one of the pre-installed platforms that you will get with the server. The Varnish content caching platform can be activated and managed effortlessly from Hepsia’s simple-to-navigate GUI and, with no more than one single mouse click, you can check an in-depth log, add or reboot an instance, delete the cached files for any site and much more. Shortly after you set up the Varnish platform for a given domain or subdomain, it will begin caching the web pages browsed by the website visitors and once it has cached enough content, you’ll perceive a substantially faster site performance as well as a decreased load on your server. With Varnish-dedicated system memory starting at 3 gigabytes, you will be able to use the platform for load distribution purposes even if you host numerous sites on the server.
